The most talented singers ever!

I believe that singers from my country are so damn talented it’s ridiculous already. To name a few, we have Regine Velazquez, Ogie Alcasid, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Sarah Geronimo, Jaya, Rachelle Ann Go, Gary Valenciano, and Charice- and these people have become such household names! We see them every Sunday on their respective variety shows and I kid you not, watching them makes me prouder that I am Filipino.

We could be one of the countries in the world that are so addicted to singing competitions, not that there’s anything wrong with it but this is where we discover great talent! It’s probably the most accessible form of having someone to break out in the industry, and I believe that some people are just too gifted to not be a star. Here are some of the talent I’m talking about!

Lani Misalucha, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Angeline Quinto and Sarah Geronimo from ASAP singing a Whitney Houston medley! I’m speechless.

Now, songs from the UK! The cast of Party Pilipinas includes (in order of performance) Kyla, Jaya, Jay-R Sillona, Kris Lawrence, Maricris Garcia, Gian Magdangal, Mark Bautista, Frencheska Farr, Julieanne San Jose, Krizza Neri, Rachelle Ann Go, and Jonalyn Viray. This show used to be my addiction every Sunday, it had the best segments when it came to singing portions! Showcasing the best of the best! So bummed out that they don’t feature this anymore on the new show Sunday All Stars:(

Sarah Geronimo and Bamboo Manalac from ASAP singing “Just Give Me A Reason” by Pink and Nate Ruess. Sarah was discovered through a talent competition hosted by Regine Velasquez, and since then she proved that she was born to be a star! Projects here and there, she is definitely one of my favorites. Bamboo Manalac was the frontman of the band called Bamboo, which was one of the most followed Pinoy acts due to their rock flavor and the amazingly written songs they perform.

A duet of “Right Here Waiting” by Regine Velasquez and Jaya Ramsey. These two divas are mainstays of the Sunday variety shows on GMA and one thing they have proven is longevity. They are just so spectacular in every sense of the word.

These 3 girls are so incredible. They form the group called La Diva. Aicelle Santos, Maricris Garcia and Jonalyn Viray are products of a singing competition, and while each of them have their own styles, they show how versatile they are as they blend perfectly together!

Julie Anne San Jose is also a mainstay to GMA’s Sunday variety shows. She is quickly becoming the next best thing out there. She can rap, dance, sing, act, and not to mention look absolutely fierce while doing it. It’s no wonder why I have a crush on her ❤

I would post more videos but I fear that I may get carried away! I just wanted to share how amazingly gifted Filipino singers are and I hope by watching this video you have an idea that it’s one of the amazing things we could offer the world!

Spring Music

Winter is over and we’re done with the melancholic tunes! Springtime suggests a slew of catchy, upbeat tracks to liven everyone’s days and get us into the groove as we get longer days and more time to enjoy the outdoors (did that just sound like a brochure?)  So here are some of the songs I’d like to share (these are my current favorites)

Emeli Sande- NEXT TO ME

Justin Timberlake- MIRRORS

Miguel- ADORN

Beyonce’s Show aka Super Bowl XLVII!

So last night I witnessed Super Bowl XLVII aka the night where Beyonce SHUT SHIT DOWN. Bear with me guys I am a fan (not a stan okay), but yea where do we start? When I found out Pepsi picked Beyonce to perform for the halftime show, I was thrilled! Last year it was Madonna (which I found okay, it was solid as what fans would say & that’s expected), and the year before that The Black Eyed Peas (who are long forgotten now). But yes, I just watched this because Bey was gonna be performing and we heard news that there was going to be a Destiny’s Child reunion! It did happen.

So her entrance was fierce, and while she was walking the stage I just knew it was going to be on record as one of the best in recent history. Same old songs, her popular hits were set list (not that there was anything wrong with it). She maintained her diva status all throughout that 15-minute performance. I can conclude that this woman is not human & I know for a fact that you all agree with me. No one does it like her! The Destiny’s Child reunion was a tad bit too short but, it was really nice seeing Kelly & Michelle (whom both entrances let us know HOLD UP, WE BACK!). Special mention to Jennifer Hudson & Alicia Keys who were both fantastic as well. These ladies brought the heat. It was great.

Oh wait, the Baltimore Ravens won 34 against the San Francisco 49ers (31).

Trends for 2012: SONGS WE LOVE

So I grabbed this from

As much of a music listener as I am, I do keep myself updated with songs that rule the charts, are played on the radio and what not. I think this is indeed a good breakdown of songs that were popular this year. I would have put ONE THING by One Direction, BROKEN HEARTED by Karmin, STRONGER by Kelly Clarkson, GANGNAM STYLE by Psy, WE ARE NEVER EVER GETTING BACK TOGETHER by Taylor Swift & GIVE YOUR HEART A BREAK by Demi Lovato. They’re played every time, don’t tell me you don’t know these songs! But yeah, with my experience as a radio jock about 2-3 years ago, I grew fond of the CONTEMPORARY HIT RADIO style of music, and they’re all very catchy and lively so I don’t understand other people’s hate towards that kind of music.

*This is such a random post.  I’m still thinking what I’m gonna write about for today’s 12.12.12 special.

Rihanna on Oprah’s Next Chapter.

I know it’s been weeks since the interview premiered, but I do have the time now to post what I felt after watching it. So many feelings, all for this one girl I truly admire, RIHANNA. She scored hit after hit, and there’s just more to come for this girl, like movie appearances, product endorsements and such. I love her so much you don’t even know.

I have never seen her cry like this (or cry at all for that matter), even after that interview with Barbara Walters circa 2009. I felt that she was angry that time, and like she went on a path after that, releasing the Rated R album which was full of dark & heavy tracks. I still loved her then, and even more now. With regards to the Chris Brown drama, I am just so proud of what she’s become, she is the essence of a strong woman who’s overcome such tragic events. I don;t know why people still bring it up to this day, it’s already been 3 years yo! That was something that happened to her, and we can definitely say BOTH of them come a long way after that, because there came a point where people stopped talking about it! One more thing I love: her ever changing looks, which I may say, REALLY DO WORK. I love her. This vulnerable side of Rihanna is so captivating, so moving. Also when she was talking about her father, her gran gran dolly, whom she loves dearly. She broke down! I was almost teary-eyed!

Rihanna is the best.

Heartbreak Warfare- John Mayer

How come the only way to know how high you get me
is to see how far I fall
God only knows how much I’d love you if you let me
but I can’t break through it all.

Music video by John Mayer performing Heartbreak Warfare. It’s 2012 & I’m still listening to this. That’s how much of a fan I am. I love his new music though!
