There Is More To Life

THIS RIGHT HERE.

Thought Catalog

There is more to life than a job. Jobs are important – we need them to survive, to feel productive, to contribute to society. But far too often and especially in this part of the world, people become synonymous with their jobs. Work is life rather work is a part of life. I think if we seek jobs, all we will find are jobs. But if we seek vocations, a sense of purpose in how we are productive; if we seek a calling, then we will find more than a job. We will find our contribution to humanity; we will find more to life than a job.

There is more to life than being in a relationship. For many people, we are constantly evaluating and re-evaluating our relationship statuses. Marriage and dating and love in a romantic way is a wonderful thing. But it isn’t all there is. We are…

The most talented singers ever!

I believe that singers from my country are so damn talented it’s ridiculous already. To name a few, we have Regine Velazquez, Ogie Alcasid, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Sarah Geronimo, Jaya, Rachelle Ann Go, Gary Valenciano, and Charice- and these people have become such household names! We see them every Sunday on their respective variety shows and I kid you not, watching them makes me prouder that I am Filipino.

We could be one of the countries in the world that are so addicted to singing competitions, not that there’s anything wrong with it but this is where we discover great talent! It’s probably the most accessible form of having someone to break out in the industry, and I believe that some people are just too gifted to not be a star. Here are some of the talent I’m talking about!

Lani Misalucha, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Angeline Quinto and Sarah Geronimo from ASAP singing a Whitney Houston medley! I’m speechless.

Now, songs from the UK! The cast of Party Pilipinas includes (in order of performance) Kyla, Jaya, Jay-R Sillona, Kris Lawrence, Maricris Garcia, Gian Magdangal, Mark Bautista, Frencheska Farr, Julieanne San Jose, Krizza Neri, Rachelle Ann Go, and Jonalyn Viray. This show used to be my addiction every Sunday, it had the best segments when it came to singing portions! Showcasing the best of the best! So bummed out that they don’t feature this anymore on the new show Sunday All Stars:(

Sarah Geronimo and Bamboo Manalac from ASAP singing “Just Give Me A Reason” by Pink and Nate Ruess. Sarah was discovered through a talent competition hosted by Regine Velasquez, and since then she proved that she was born to be a star! Projects here and there, she is definitely one of my favorites. Bamboo Manalac was the frontman of the band called Bamboo, which was one of the most followed Pinoy acts due to their rock flavor and the amazingly written songs they perform.

A duet of “Right Here Waiting” by Regine Velasquez and Jaya Ramsey. These two divas are mainstays of the Sunday variety shows on GMA and one thing they have proven is longevity. They are just so spectacular in every sense of the word.

These 3 girls are so incredible. They form the group called La Diva. Aicelle Santos, Maricris Garcia and Jonalyn Viray are products of a singing competition, and while each of them have their own styles, they show how versatile they are as they blend perfectly together!

Julie Anne San Jose is also a mainstay to GMA’s Sunday variety shows. She is quickly becoming the next best thing out there. She can rap, dance, sing, act, and not to mention look absolutely fierce while doing it. It’s no wonder why I have a crush on her ❤

I would post more videos but I fear that I may get carried away! I just wanted to share how amazingly gifted Filipino singers are and I hope by watching this video you have an idea that it’s one of the amazing things we could offer the world!

Instagrammaddict.

If there’s such a word then you’d know I’m the one who coined it. Dibs. I started joining the Instagram community a little over a year ago. It was because these celebrities on twitter kept cross-posting their photos and I didn’t seem to understand what they were like, so when my brother got himself an IPod touch I made an account and started taking photos away like there was no tomorrow. I have posted a bunch of pics! It’s crazy, addicting & fun! There are days where I’m at a venue or an event and there’s an instant need to instagram everything I see, it becomes compulsive. There are also days where I just scroll and like pictures from people I follow & comment on them. Follow me here guys! http://instagram.com/youseecarlos/. In the meantime, here are a few picks from my Instagram!

If you guys have your own smart phone and what not, then come on and start using Instagram! Super fun! If you wanna know what & where your fave celebs & public figures are up to, then this is the place to be! I’m not trying to endorse or whatever but I’m just so giddy about it.

From MIA to Back Again & Blogging! (Lame-oh)

Look who’s back! I’m so sorry fellow wordpressers. This meme definitely can represent what I’m going through right now. It’s perfect! Anywho lemme give you a list of what’s going on lately.

  • New internship/job at a gaming website, I do research & I write celebrity news now.
  • The first one meant I have about zero time to actually even think of anything to write in my blogs.
  • Been juggling Harvey’s too.
  • Joined some meetup groups in Toronto. I’m excited to see how this goes.
  • Watched a lot of movies, will pick the ones worth reviewing & post it here.
  • Sent our VISA application to the embassy and we’re hopeful to make it by Christmas. Power of prayer & intention. Please Lord.
  • Hoping to get my new permanent resident card after having lost it.
  • Basically just doing my thing now. Some people let me down too much already, so I decided to like not talk to them for now.

So what’s up with you guys!?

Rihanna on Oprah’s Next Chapter.

I know it’s been weeks since the interview premiered, but I do have the time now to post what I felt after watching it. So many feelings, all for this one girl I truly admire, RIHANNA. She scored hit after hit, and there’s just more to come for this girl, like movie appearances, product endorsements and such. I love her so much you don’t even know.

I have never seen her cry like this (or cry at all for that matter), even after that interview with Barbara Walters circa 2009. I felt that she was angry that time, and like she went on a path after that, releasing the Rated R album which was full of dark & heavy tracks. I still loved her then, and even more now. With regards to the Chris Brown drama, I am just so proud of what she’s become, she is the essence of a strong woman who’s overcome such tragic events. I don;t know why people still bring it up to this day, it’s already been 3 years yo! That was something that happened to her, and we can definitely say BOTH of them come a long way after that, because there came a point where people stopped talking about it! One more thing I love: her ever changing looks, which I may say, REALLY DO WORK. I love her. This vulnerable side of Rihanna is so captivating, so moving. Also when she was talking about her father, her gran gran dolly, whom she loves dearly. She broke down! I was almost teary-eyed!

Rihanna is the best.

Movie Trailer: THE MISTRESS

First things first, I love this on-screen couple, I believe they pull in millions & millions of fans, viewers, potential stalkers and of course, money whenever they make a project. Bea & John Lloyd could be everyone’s guilty pleasure because they’re damn good actors. I first saw their awesomeness when I saw One More Chance with my high school classmates back in ’07, then for a while they did a remake of the Mexican telenovela called Betty La Fea, that was in 2008. They made another comeback movie called Miss You Like Crazy which was amazing again, it was back in 2010, February 14 weekend, it sold like hotcakes. Then here they go again starring in another movie, which I think is a pretty decent gap from the last one they made. It’s a risk that Bea took to actually land this role because we always see this smart, sweet, sometimes sassy character out of her & she doesn’t fail to deliver when it comes to dramatic scenes. This one is very different, she plays what seems like the character you will hate, but I believe she will make us fall in love with her vulnerability. On the other hand, John Lloyd has been names box office king for many years now, I mean we all know why. He rakes in millions of pesos on opening weekends of movies he stars in even if he’s paired up with another leading lady. He’s one hell of an actor too by the way. I just idolize both these 2 and I will make sure I watch this movie, veteran actors Ronaldo Valdez & Hilda Koronel also star.
